After years of operation, the original facade lighting system designed by Speirs and Major Associates had reached the end of its useful life.

Looking to renew the original design using modern LED fixtures, we worked with the Client to ensure the original scheme was faithfully recreated on site.

This included replacing over 1000 fixtures as well as the entire lighting control system which comprised of over 40 switches and 100 nodes. The new control platform had to integrate with the existing network infrastructure, but also required custom software development to emulate the lunar phases that colour over the Mosque every night – changing with the moon.
After devising a strategy to transfer the data from the original control system and transpose it into a format that could be used by the new platform, we set about colour matching tests to update the scenes so that the new units were as close a possible to the original.
